4. Chemical Properties
- Relatively stable in dry air at ambient temperature; slowly oxidizes to form Dy₂O₃ surface layer.
- Reacts vigorously with hot water, reacts with dilute mineral acids releasing hydrogen.
- Reactive with oxygen, moisture, halogens at elevated temperature.
- Oxidation state: Mainly +3.
- Air & moisture sensitive; avoid prolonged exposure to atmosphere.
5. Storage & Handling
- Storage: Sealed package under inert argon atmosphere; cool, dry warehouse, away from humid air.
- Handling: Avoid dust generation; prevent contact with water, acids.
- Packaging: Vacuum plastic bag + iron drum filled with argon protection.

- Additive for sintered NdFeB permanent magnets to improve coercivity & high-temperature demagnetization resistance
